Doctor or Data: Understanding Patient Perspectives on AI in Healthcare

Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping healthcare by improving diagnostic speed, treatment accuracy, and accessibility, yet limited research exists on patients' perceptions and trust in AI. To address this gap, the Patient Advocate Foundation (PAF) conducted a Spring 2022 nationwide survey of patients with chronic illnesses who had received PAF services. This cross-sectional analysis explored patient knowledge, comfort, and views on AI in healthcare through six core and 15 demographic questions.
